With the municipal outdated, underground supply pipes that are underground in our neighborhoods, it is not wise to depend on the water supply being totally clean, healthy, and drinkable just from our unfiltered faucets.  We need the further assurance of our water supply not being over-leaded from old iron pipes that usually supply our homes with water.  These were put in place many years ago before the use of pvc pipes that are used now days.
